As a Cost Accountant, you understand the details associated with inventory, COGS, cost of sales, and production variances. What makes our role a little different is that working with the General Ledger is part of the role as well- assisting in month end close, analyzing, and reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries and monthly reports while following the proper internal controls and policies in accordance with GAAP. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Take ownership of assigned general ledger accounts, including the accurate and timely recording of journal entries into the general ledger for the month-end financial close

  • Aid Controller in preparation of financial reporting of inventory, COGS, cost of sales, and production variances

  • Prepare balance sheets reconciliations and proper supporting documentation, including month-end adjusting entries

  • Aid in preparation of monthly inventory reporting package

  • Assist with analysis of monthly results and proactively seek and suggest opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management

  • Assist in resolving price and quantity variances to capture correct costs

  • Assist with maintenance of general ledger accounts 

  • Assist with reporting on intercompany profit in inventory

  • Assist with the annual external and internal audit process

  • Assist in the establishment of and adherence to proper internal control policies

  • Other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for

  • BA / BS in Accounting

  • Experience in manufacturing cost accounting, cost reduction, inventory control, financial reporting, and analysis, tracking and managing costs against a budget, and tracking P&L results

  • Experience implementing and working with information technology systems desirable

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and/or business intelligent tools

  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and third parties.

  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, identify areas of improvement, and promote quality while increasing productivity

  • Adhere to policies and procedures, complete tasks on time, take responsibility for actions, support organizations objectives and strategy, strive to continuously build knowledge and skills.

  • Solid, concise written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with Quickbooks accounting systems

  • Remote-friendly
